Fan Reviews: My Strength Success Story with Gym Monster

Hi Speediance Teammates! I am thrilled to share my journey with my Gym Monster (GM) from Speediance. This incredible piece of equipment has truly revolutionised my fitness routine and helped me achieve my goals.

Transition from Cardio to Strength Training

Before owning the GM, I was heavily into cardio, especially Peloton spin workouts. While I enjoyed these sessions, I realised the importance of incorporating strength training into my routine. I started doing Peloton free weight classes but saw little improvement due to the limited equipment I had at home. That is when I decided to invest in the Speediance GM.

Customising My Workout Plan

Initially, I followed the preset workouts on the GM. However, I soon realised I needed a more tailored approach. I teamed up with a trainer who helped me create a customised workout plan and guided me on my nutritional needs, including my macronutrient intake.

Tracking Progress with Cronometer

To keep track of my food intake, I use the Cronometer app (gold membership). It is a fantastic tool that simplifies food tracking and provides comprehensive data. If anyone is interested in trying it, I would be happy to share a referral link for a discount.

My Nutritional Insights

Over the past three months, I have maintained a plant-based diet, which I have followed since 2015. This diet not only eliminated my daily headaches, which I had since childhood, but also allowed me to reduce my epilepsy medication by over 60%.

Here is a snapshot of my daily intake:

  • Calories: 1,564
  • Protein: 17% (70g/day)
  • Carbs: 59% (200g net carbs/day)
  • Fat: 23% (40g/day, with 7g from saturated fat)

I consume a high-fibre diet (46g/day) compared to the average of 12.5g/day, which helps me feel fuller longer and boosts my GLP-1 production. My added sugar intake is only 16g/day, well below the American Heart Association's recommendation of less than 25g. Additionally, I keep my sodium intake to 1,955mg/day, much lower than the typical average of 3,400mg/day.

Body Composition Achievement

I have gotten my body fat % down from around 19% to 14%, so probably turned some of those kilos from fat to muscle.

Fitness and Exercise Routine

I firmly believe in the importance of wearables for tracking progress. My FitBit shows that I have burned an average of 11,500 calories per month through exercise over the past five months. I started with three full-body workouts per week using the GM and two Peloton spin sessions. Recently, I switched to a 4-day split routine focusing on upper and lower body workouts, along with a spin session on Wednesdays and morning walks on weekends.

Final Thoughts

Make your Speediance GM or GP part of your fitness routine. Whitney Cooper is working on adding some of my workout movements to the library so I can share my full-body workout plan. My husband recently installed mirrors in our gym, which has been a great addition for checking my form during workouts.

Stay motivated, keep pushing, and enjoy the process. Your future self will thank you for it.
